Welcome to the Women's section of our club pages. As a modern progressive cycling club we have a really good representation of women at all levels. We have riders just dipping their toe into the cycling world, through to a growing number of women riders competing in all kinds of events. We have a grown the number of women on our club committee in various roles and that's important as we help to form a club that's friendly and open to all.
Our rides start out from the beginners' rides on Saturday mornings. They are about 20 miles long (details of specific rides can be found on the Club Run page). The question most often asked is 'Will I be too slow? I don't want to hold anyone up'. On our Beginners rides we guarantee you will not be left, you will be accompanied no matter what. The next query concerns fear of riding on busy roads. To address this we have women only bike skills sessions running frequently. You can ride your bike in a safe, controlled environment while being coached on handling and riding techniques. It's a great way to improve and there is something here for the new rider and the very experienced - we can all learn to be better. For the more experienced rider we have a really varied long ride programme. Being based where we are we can be in North Lancashire, Cheshire or the Dales in no time, a variety of locations that many other clubs just don't have.
Our women's bunch is a friendly lot. We have social nights out, trips to the velodrome and women's cycling day trips throughout the year. Juniors are welcome too, we have girls amongst our ranks and we have thorough, documented welfare standards, also viewable on our safeguarding page.
Cycling is a fantastic hobby, it keeps you fit and active and has a great social side to it too. We'd love to see more women in our sport so come along and have a go, see where it can take you!
